The Happy Shoe Shop has donated 800 pairs of gumboots to assist the flood-affected communities of Echuca and Rochester with their clean-up efforts.
This was made possible by the transport assistance of NRS Courier and Lions Club Geelong.
The shop has another 400 pairs of gumboots to donate, but needs help with a delivery network to get them where they are most needed.
Shop owner Peggy Knowles said it was difficult to imagine what it must be like to try to get homes and businesses back in order after events such as these.
“It’s not much, but if we can help people keep their feet safe as they deal with flood water, we’re glad to be able to help,” she said.
“We want to do more for flood-affected communities but are limited by our delivery options. We are so grateful to NRS Courier and Lions Club Geelong, who have helped us with the deliveries to Rochester and Echuca.
“We’re appealing to transport companies or businesses travelling from Geelong back to flood-affected areas with empty trucks or vans to help us get gumboots where they need to go.
“We can’t make gumboot donations to individuals, but we’ve dropped our gumboot prices online to below wholesale to make them more affordable for those who can’t access them at a flood relief centre.”
