She provided this article explaining her plans, if re-elected.
As a dedicated local mother, horse breeder and farmer, I am excited to announce my candidacy for Benalla Rural City Council.
My commitment to this community is unwavering, and I am determined to be a strong voice fighting for positive change and practical solutions that will benefit every resident.
My campaign is focused on making Benalla a better place through a practical approach.
My life is deeply intertwined with the Benalla community, and I’m committed to being a strong advocate for our region. I’m dedicated to nurturing a vibrant and supportive community.
I will stay committed to advocating for:
- Road Improvements: Upgrading and maintaining our roads and infrastructure to ensure they are safe and efficient for everyone. I am a strong advocate for current projects such as the Link Bridge and Midland Hwy path from the racecourse to the town.
- Reducing rubbish management costs and maintaining an effective and profitable landfill: Finding ways to lower the cost of waste management for all residents and supporting the circular economy through initiatives like the Tip Shop, Repair Café, textile and soft plastic recycling, and finding solutions for silage wrap disposal.
- Increased support for community recreation: Investing in sports and social groups to enhance local engagement and overall wellbeing. Through project and master plans for recreational areas like Churchill Reserve, Barkly St and Benalla show grounds.
I’m committed to a comprehensive approach to community development, which includes:
- Supporting local businesses: Assisting the Benalla Business Network and helping local businesses thrive and contribute to our economic growth.
- Backing local farms and farmers: Providing additional resources and support to strengthen our agricultural sector.
- Investing in sporting infrastructure: Improving facilities and support for local sports clubs to promote a healthy, active lifestyle.
- Investigating ways to encourage, attract and sustain restaurants that will enhance our dining scene and stimulate economic activity.
I’m also passionate about celebrating Australia Day and preserving our local traditions while embracing new opportunities.
I believe in the power of female leadership and am dedicated to encouraging more women to take on leadership roles within our community.
As a proud Australian, I will advocate for and encourage more female leaders in our community.
I passionately believe in our region and the future possibilities it has to offer to those who live in our community and to those who visit.
As the election nears, my campaign is gaining momentum, fuelled by my commitment to addressing key issues through the four Rs and my strong sense of community responsibility.
My candidacy offers a forward-thinking approach to ensuring Benalla remains a thriving, supportive place for all of us.
I am listening and I ask for your support to continue working for our community.
Vote 1 Bernie Hearn.
