Organisers were pleased to be greeted by a sunny morning, contradicting what the weatherman had forecast.
Rosalie Thomas said she was very happy to wake up to clear skies.
“We have church people, and some community members running the stalls today,” Ms Thomas said.
“We have about 13 stalls as well as the face painting being done by Aria Winkler and Mr Stephen Winkler playing some live music.”
Ms Thomas said raising funds via the fete is all about being able to support, and offer help to local people who are in need, particularly with the cost-of-living crisis affecting so many.
“We have members of the church involved in the local homelessness group, and of course we have our community garden,” she said.
“And the funds raised today will go towards a range of community initiatives.”
Ms Thomas thanked the Benalla community for getting behind the fete and turning out in great numbers.
“When we arrived to open at 8.30 there was already a good crowd,” she said.
