The golf course opened on June 26, but Barooga Public School students were lucky to have an advanced session on June 25 for an end of term party.
Barooga Sporties chief executive Bobby Brooks said he was full of anticipation for the launch of the mini golf course.
“It’s created a real buzz around the place and we’re pleased to say that it’s also created new job opportunities and more rosters,” he said.
Despite the winter weather and COVID-19 restrictions, Mr Brooks said they had a steady stream of visitors across the weekend.
“The feedback from young and old has been amazing,” he said.
“There is no age limit and it's pleasing to see kids, parents and grandparents alike having some fun.”
Construction of the mini golf course started in February and finished last week.
“We still have some outdoor seating areas to create in coming months finished off with some new turf in the spring on the surrounds,” Mr Brooks said.
Barooga Sporties received $1 million in government funding for its mini-golf and multi-sport simulators, which will cost a combined $1.4 million.
“We are very grateful for $600,000 in support from the Federal Government's Murray-Darling Basin Economic Development Program and $400,000 from the NSW Cross-Border Commissioner’s Infrastructure Fund,” Mr Brooks said.
The simulators, a work in progress inside the auditorium, will be complete in September.
