On Tuesday, December 12, the first groups of students got their first look inside the new Shepparton school on Verney Rd, with a Year 7 orientation day taking place on the school grounds.
The Year 7s were taken to the new school in three groups to tour the new buildings and get a first look at their future classrooms.
In 2024, Mr Laussen said the school will welcome Preps to Year 7s into the newly built junior wing of the school, and by 2029, will cater for all year levels up to Year 12.
“We’ve got 240 students enrolled,” Mr Laussen said.
“We will have two classes for Prep, one class each of Years 1 to 6 and two Year 7 classes.
“They’re all pretty full classes.”
While they are still advertising for staff, he said the interest in the positions had been great.
“I met with the staff for the first time two weeks ago, and we had a fantastic day together,” Mr Laussen said.
“It was really nice to be with them.”
Ahead of its official opening at the start of Term 1 2024, the main buildings, as part of stage one of construction, have been completed, ready for students to start next year.
“All of the main buildings are finished,” Mr Laussen said.
“We expect to have them formally handed over to us in early January.”
As the countdown begins on the school’s opening, Mr Laussen is ready to welcome his new students at the start of the school year.
“It’s all tracking beautifully to start as planned,” he said.
