An affordable housing project in Shepparton’s Parkside Dve has been unsuccessful in securing Victorian Government funding.
Greater Shepparton City Council resolved in June to sell part of the land at 45 Parkside Drv to Women’s Housing Ltd for 45 single-storey dwellings to be built.
On September 8, council announced Women’s Housing Ltd advised its funding application to the Victorian Big Housing Build was unsuccessful.
“Council remains hopeful Women’s Housing Ltd will continue to seek opportunities to work with council on future funding rounds of the Big Housing Build or other community housing associations to facilitate future affordable housing developments,” Mayor Shane Sali said.
The proposed housing development was to be specifically for low-income and at-risk women and their children.
In response to advertising its intention to sell the land, council had received 62 submissions, with 36 objecting and 25 in support.
The land will remain as council property.
