The school’s 2/3CB class has been learning how to write newspaper articles, which led to cadet journalist Jacquie Marshall being invited to the classroom to speak to the students.
The journey continued this week when the class visited the PT office to see what goes on behind the scenes to put a newspaper together.
The students and teachers Carly Crothers and Stacey Clancy learned how to lay a page with stories and photos, and how it then gets sent to print.
The staff at the PT were excited to host the group, which is the first to tour the office since COVID pandemic restrictions eased.
On her earlier visit to the classroom, Mrs Marshall talked the students through how to construct an article from top to bottom.
“The class were so amazing with what they already knew,” Mrs Marshall said.
“They had learnt about headlines, paragraphs, timelines of what to write and where, it was really impressive.”
The class were then set a task to write an article about the Pastoral Times’ classroom visit, with the best article to be published in the newspaper.
Havana Sztejman was the winner, and all the articles have been on display in the PT office window.
On Wednesday this week, Pastoral Times general manager Leesa Muir lead the PT office tour, explaining each department of the PT team and their involvement in getting the finished product to print.
