The Australian Border Force (ABF) says officers found the material on the 32-year-old's device after receiving a report of a user accessing and transmitting child abuse material online.
WA's Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (WA JACET), comprising both WA and Australian Federal Police officers, arrested and charged the man on Friday with possessing and accessing child exploitation material.
The maximum penalty for the offences is 15 years' imprisonment.
Members of the ABF and WA JACET allegedly linked the man to illegal online activity and a search of his electronic devices allegedly uncovered the material.
"Whether the crime is committed in Australia or overseas – the AFP is committed to ensuring vulnerable children are not exploited or victimised," AFP Detective Superintendent Peter Chwal said in a statement
He said the force's message to online offenders remained the same: " If you procure, access and transmit child abuse material, you will be found, arrested and prosecuted."
The charged man is expected to appear in Northbridge Magistrates Court on Saturdaytoday.
