Although it may not seem the case from the outside, the building's interior is nearing completion, with seats fastened into place in both theatres on Thursday.
This latest addition comes just three weeks on from the screen’s installation last month.
With the projection equipment and the entrance next to come, Cobram Cinema committee secretary Rob Morey cannot wait to see the facility fully decked out.
“I think it is really starting to take shape — the seats really make it look like a cinema,” he said.
“We are still estimating the project to be finished by the end of October.
“Our official opening will be November 25 — although it will be an opening without actually opening due to COVID-19.”
But despite COVID-19, the project hasn’t wavered or faltered thanks to the locals involved — hence the name Cobram Community Cinema.
Keeping the ball rolling throughout the tougher months has shown dedication from the township to see the project reach fruition, which Mr Morey won’t forget any time soon.
“We are very happy the project has kept on rolling throughout COVID-19, and are especially happy that we have been about to use local trades who have also kept going,” Mr Morey said.
“We also wish to acknowledge the fundraising committee who have served from February to September.
“The entire community has pitched in for the project, but the fundraising committee deserve special mention for the work they have done.
“They were set a goal of raising $100,000, and they have certainly exceeded that and have made stage two of the project much easier.”
