The Deniliquin Drovers failed to field a team in the Southern Inland Rugby Union competition this year.
But this could all be changing, as the club looks to rejoin the competition for the 2025 season.
At the AGM, the Drovers expect to appoint people to key roles in the club and begin creating their road map back to being a fully operational rugby club.
The Drovers have a long and strong history with Deniliquin, bringing in players from all walks of life across the community and giving them a home to play the game.
Interest in the code has dropped off to an extent recently, not just locally but across the country.
Even the national team, the Wallabies, have been free-falling from a perennial competitor to somewhat of a laughing stock in world rugby.
Irrespective of this, clubs around the country have endured.
While they regretfully took last season off, Drovers president Nathan Holahan hopes the club can come back stronger.
“Our club’s focus now turns to 2025 - in particular, our key objectives are to recruit more local players and support our talented juniors.
“Our ultimate goal is to ensure the mighty Deniliquin Drovers return to the on-field force we once were.
“We have some ideas to achieve these goals, but we need all hands on deck.
“We’re calling on anyone and everyone who can help out to get involved. If you can help out in any way, we’d love to hear from you.
“The Drovers have a proud history, and it was devastating to see us unable to field a side in 2024.
“Whether you’re new to town, or an old player looking to get involved again, please get in contact with our club via our Facebook page or by calling 0403 555 753.
“We’re also celebrating the club’s 40-year anniversary in 2025 - with more details on that to come - so we’re hoping 2025 will be a big year.”
Wednesday’s meeting will be held in Mountbatten Room 2, starting at 6.30pm.
