The Rutherglen Lions Club anniversary luncheon attracted some 80 Lions past and present along with a large contingent of community members.
Corowa Lions who were instrumental in forming the Rutherglen club back in 1974 were also well represented.
The event was conducted by Lion Peter Graham OAM who ensured the day flowed without a hitch.
He was assisted by PDG Peter Poels who was the guest speaker and presented several awards prior to the unveiling of the memorial plaque in the adjacent gardens.
Lion Ian Stones was presented with a 50-year monarch and a 50-year Lions International service medal for his incredible service to Lions and his community.
Lion Ken Goode was presented with a Distinguished Service Award for his commitment and service to the Rutherglen Lions Club.
Lion Peter Graham was presented with a James Richardson award for his continued service, while Lion Julie Simpson was recognised with a 15-year monarch for her ongoing and devoted service to Rutherglen Lions Club and the Lions V6 District.
Lions Betty Potter and Julie Simpson were recognised for their tremendous work in setting up the history display at the back of the hall and also preparing the video presentation.
The day was only marred by a short burst of rain that delayed the unveiling of the plaque but in general, the whole day was a huge success with all who attended enjoying a great meal mixed with plenty of hospitality.
