Feedback provided in the surveys was shared with members of the Deniliquin Local Health Advisory Council at the monthly meeting earlier this week.
In her regular report, facility manager Ginny Lange reported that the hospital had experienced a very busy month across multiple departments, with the emergency department, maternity, radiology and pathology all having “very high” patient numbers.
Mrs Lange reported that 124 patient satisfaction surveys were completed in October, with 94 per cent rating their experience as ‘very good’ or ‘good’.
“This is a very pleasing result,” Mrs Lange said.
“We welcome feedback from all of our consumers, as this drives our continual improvement process.
“As well as the survey, consumers can approach the relevant nursing unit manager, or myself as facility manager, if they have concerns they want addressed.”
Also presenting to the Deniliquin LHAC meeting were Murrumbidgee Local Health District health promotion staff Natalie McDermott and Theresa Lenehan.
They explained the programs they oversee which benefit the Deniliquin community.
This includes the statewide ‘Get Healthy’ program, which is available to all community members over 16. It is a personalised service which helps an individual to set relevant health goals.
It uses university trained health professionals to advise participants on strategies to achieve success, and provides support both via phone and online.
This service is free to access and individuals can find out more on www.gethealthynsw.com.au or by phoning 1300 806 258.
Deniliquin is also fortunate to have several additional programs aimed at older members of the community.
This includes Stepping On, for falls prevention, run by the Allied Health team at Deniliquin Community Health Centre.
Gentle exercise classes and Tai Chi for Arthritis are also run every week by trained volunteers, and details of these classes can be found on www.activeandhealthy.nsw.gov.au.
“We are very grateful to our volunteer exercise leaders who often have led these extremely popular classes for many years,” LHAC chair Lynda Barclay said.
